The Sunday Serving

Apologies for the late posting of the Sunday Serving. We’ve been travelling most of the day and I didn’t have access to Wifi, so that’s that.

One thing I really did want to post today is this video by the London Street Photography Festival 2011. As a photographer who takes pictures in London, I have been stopped a million times over by security guards who think they have a right to tell me where I can and can’t take photographs and what I can photograph. Well, guess what. They can’t. And this video is a very good illustration of that. I suggest to all photographers that you watch it and are armed with knowing you’re on the right side of the law next time a security guard exceeds his powers.

Rant over. Hope you had a fantastic weekend!

I had a problem with a security guard last year who decided I was trespassing on a site belonging to xxxx. The fact I was wearing a hi-viz jacket with “xxxx event photographer” and had a pass with “xxxx event photographer” made no difference.
He called the police when I refused to a)delete my pictures b)hand over my camera c) leave the site.
Fortunately the site manager intervened and explained that I was supposed to be there.

Good for you Julia. As photographers we really need to put our feet down and make it clear that we know what our rights are.
